Acerca de Brenda

Soy una estudiante de Escritura Creativa, de nacionalidad Mexicana-Guatemalteca y actualmente vivo en Vancouver, BC. Tengo una Licenciatura en Ciencias de la Comunicación y un Diploma en Redacción de Guiones. Además del cine y la televisión, me apasionan los gatos, los idiomas, la comida, la cultura, las personas y las ideas.

Acerca de la clase

Como tutora de conversación, mi enfoque es la discusión de temas cotidianos adaptados al interés de cada individuo. Considero que aprender un idioma debería ser una experiencia divertida que mantenga a la persona interesada y empoderada con el proceso. Mi propia experiencia aprendiendo nuevos idiomas, me ha enseñado que la práctica es la única forma de mejorar y debemos seguir la manera en que naturalmente aprendimos nuestro propio idioma cuando éramos bebés; enfocándonos en escuchar y hablar antes de pretender leer y comprender o escribir perfectamente.

¡Genial! Brenda is a very engaging and genuinely interesting tutor who is also deeply interested in her students. She takes the time to understand who we are and adapts her interests, examples, and discussions to align with ours, which makes the learning experience feel very personal and motivating.

Her teaching methods are creative, flexible, and always aligned with our objectives. She provides concrete tools and strategies that help us improve and gain confidence, not just during sessions but also in our own practice. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful and inspiring tutor!

Anne-Sophie is a wonderful, committed, self-motivated, and curious student with a high proficiency in Spanish. She had taken multiple Spanish courses in the past, and when we first met, she was already speaking at an advanced level with almost no mistakes, but wanted to get more comfortable speaking the language and learn more about the Hispanic culture. Just a couple of months later, I am surprised by how much she has progressed in her conversation skills and confidence. Not only does she speak fluently and without much hesitation, but she has also expanded her vocabulary, cultural knowledge, and made efforts to connect with native speakers by finding spaces to fully immerse herself in Spanish within a city that speaks other languages. As her conversation tutor, I am extremely proud of what she has accomplished! This is all her merit. I only provided the practice setting and encouraged her to discover her own language abilities. I am sure she will keep progressing in Spanish and any other language she sets her mind to learn.

Val (the person Camille booked the class deal for) is an amazing student. She has some previous experience with the language and Latin American culture, she is interested in a diversity of topics and eager to learn and push herself towards improving her hearing and speaking abilities. I am really excited to continue our conversation lessons!

I highly recommend Brenda as a Spanish teacher. Practicing with her has been so helpful and fun!

From the beginning Brenda created a very comfortable space to learn, be vulnerable, and to laugh. She has a collaborative approach and together we identified the most engaging topics for our practice conversations so the class is tailored for me specifically.

She finds interesting articles, stories, and films to discuss so I'm not just learning Spanish but am also expanding my learning and vocabulary in other subjects I care about.

Since taking classes with Brenda my fluency and confidence with my Spanish has improved so much!
